Deborah Mathias further developed her natural artistic skills by attending evening classes at the E.R. Burrowes School of Art and the University of Guyana Art Department. She is presently, one of the foremost artistic jewelry designers in Guyana. Guyanese by birth, she hails from an ethnic diverse background and draws her inspiration from the rich cultural mix, which she is fortunate to be part of.
Creating under the Rave Lifestyle brand, Deborah is renowned for her work with local sourced materials -such as local semi-precious stones, juxtaposed with other natural and repurposed materials, eg, coconut shell, seeds, locally prepared leather, and recycled material to create her dialectic pieces.
Deborah’s artform, in the area of jewelry and accessories, seek to inspire the wearer to embrace and celebrate the beauty of her country’s natural resources and the rich cultural contribution of its peoples.
Ms. Mathias has displayed her work at the Caribbean Fashion Week, Montreal Canada 2017. Participated in the CARIFESTA Craft shows, Barbados and Trinidad 2017 and 2019 respectively. Participated in the Caribbean Business & Trade Fair, Suriname 2018 and has been a returning Exhibitor with the Moving Circle of Artists, Annual Heritage Art Exhibition, Castellani House.
