Origin of his musical career & the Y3K Band
Mr. Kwasi Cox; Stage name Q (keu), started his singing career in his family’s song group “The Y3K” originally known as “The Faithful Four”; an all-male a cappella quartet song group.
The Group currently comprises of; both male and female members, seven in total namely; Yurie Cox, Kwasi Cox, Keifa Cox, Keiven Cox, Taiesha Cox, Taianna Cox, and Daniel Cox all siblings.
As the son of a Pastor in a church with a demand for good musicians, He and his siblings all quickly learnt to play instruments, each playing at least two (2) musical instruments skillfully, which in-turn quickly increased the groups quality of music while slowly taking them away from singing a cappella.
As word of their group spread, they were invited all over the country to perform; gracing the stage of various places well known for quality entertainment.
Notable Venues and Performances
The National Cultural Centre, Ocean View Hotel (no longer in existence), Zoom-inn (now known as Status) Hotel , Pegasus Hotel, Princes International (now known as The Ramada) Hotel, De Impeccable Hall, And Performing for many popular annual events such as; Miss Universe, Miss World, The American Embassy’s fourth of July Celebration, Carifesta X Gospel Concert, the National Stadium for Jam Zone International 2010 where they performed the opening act for the world renowned international singer and song writer Ne-Yo and The Theatre Guild where they were awarded the title of “The Best New Band for 2010”; By Guyana’s National Theatre of Arts “The Theatre Guild of Guyana.”
Their most recent notable accomplishment was being the only group representing Guyana and the entire Caribbean at One Billion Rising’s “Artistic Uprising” in Manhattan New York February, where they shared the stage with world renowned Acts such as; Thandie Newton, Emma Myles, Kathy Najimy, Rosie O’Donnell, Saidah Baba Talibah and One Billion Rising founder Eve Ensler among others where they stood out as best performance of the night according to Ms. Eve Ensler, Mr. Dylan McDermott; Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning Actor, and many others.
